A Nature Discovery Centre
A four acre mango orchard was developed in to Sundarvan, A Nature Discovery Centre, inaugurated by Dr. Salim Ali, the well-known ornithologist, on 28th October, 1978. Fondly known as ‘The Snake Park’, Sundarvan has been doing Snake Awareness Programmes since its inception. It is a unique facility created for experiencing and understanding nature, animals and birds.
Recognized as a Mini Zoo by the Central Zoo Authority of India (CZA), Government of India; Sundarvan has a collection of reptiles, birds, small mammals, a butterfly garden and an aquarium for fishes. Sundarvan’s activities with children and youth act as a catalyst in, and stimulate, the process of inquiry into nature. A very popular place with children and adults, Sundarvan receives nearly 100,000 visitors annually. This nature discovery centre is located in the heart of the city of Ahmedabad and is an activity of Centre for Environment Education (CEE).
